Ethan Turns 4!

So Ethan has been obsessed with sharks lately...perhaps due to Mark showing him too many YouTube videos or because we recently watched "Soul Surfer" as a family (Ethan actually started to cry when we fast-forwarded the shark-attack scene out of complete frustration and disappointment with us and kept asking if there would be another one so that he could watch "her arm get bitten off". Boys!) I often overhear Ethan and Brooklyn playing "shark attack", with Ethan being the shark and Brooklyn gets to be Bethany Hamilton (lucky girl!) That is so un-PC...but what can you do?

All of that to say, we decided to celebrate Ethan's birthday this year by hosting his party at the Denver Aquarium. We invited his 3 close buddies, their moms and siblings and everyone had a great time. They got to feed fish crickets, touch sting rays, watch a mermaid show, and of course, see the sharks. Afterwards we had lunch and shark cupcakes on the deck. It was one of the most relaxing birthday parties I've ever hosted...we may need to make "destination parties" our new thing!

(since we hardly ever eat there during the year)

And Ethan opened up his big present from Pa and Gigi! (Which of course, he loved!)

All in all, it was a pretty great birthday week for a 4 year-old! This video is pretty hilarious. If you can make it through the off-key singing, the last 3 seconds are totally classic.
